Synopsis

Christmas-time - and Sam, a nine-year-old tomboy, is traumatised when she witnesses a brutal gangland murder.

Bill Wordsworth is an entrepreneur – ex-army and pillar of the local community, he harbours political ambitions. But behind the facade he is a vicious racketeer, the local “Mr Big” in drugs, prostitution and loan-sharking. And he is a man with a past...

When a mysterious loner calling himself “Bishop” arrives in town, Sam sees him as the mythical hero from her favourite western novels, come to save her from the gangsters threatening her, as the sole murder witness.

When Bishop starts to undermine Wordsworth’s illicit empire, slickly ripping off drugs and money, Wordsworth assumes that he is working for rival crime-lord - Mickey White. But soon his suspicions turn to his own son, Danny, who has been cleverly implicated by Bishop; the seeds of mistrust threaten to destroy not only Wordsworth’s family, but his whole operation.

Bishop is captured and tortured and Wordsworth begins to realise that his past has come back to haunt him – undiscovered war-crimes from his time in Bosnia with the U.N. peace-keepers.

Despite his injuries, Bishop affects a daring escape and, patched up by Sam, prepares for the final showdown.

Christmas Day - in an explosive, action-packed denouement, Bishop takes on Wordsworth’s hired mercenaries, blowing them and Wordsworth’s whole empire to pieces.

Wordsworth’s agony is compounded when Bishop tricks him into shooting Danny and the scene is set for him to finally face his nemesis.

Though severely wounded, Bishop manages to kill Wordsworth and save the kidnapped Sam.

Sam’s impoverished family are delighted to find a large sum of money as a Christmas present from an anonymous donor....

.....as a mysterious lone figure leaves town, never to be seen again...?

Until the next time……
